Conflicts are a part of our everyday lives.  This paper examines the ramification of the employment of five salient communication theories in the management of conflicts at various levels of human interaction, as parties to the conflict, as observers or as mediators.  It concludes that since most management styles rely heavily on negotiation, which is a communication function, parties engaged in conflict management should acquaint themselves with a good knowledge of communication theories to enhance integration through persuasion.  That way, the paper recommends, conflict managers can employ appropriate communication measures in the resolution of conflicts so as to bring about opinion and attitude change.
