Abstract

This paper examines the relevance of corporate social responsibility performance in the realisation of Vision 20:2020 in Nigeria. Among other objectives, it sought to determine whether corporate social responsibility can contribute to the realisation of Vision 20:2020 in Nigeria. The study used interview and questionnaire as instruments of data collection. The study found that the private sector can contribute to the realisation of Vision 20:2020 in Nigeria through corporate social responsibility programmes. The study concludes that it is imperative for the private sector to partner with the government, if the goal of becoming the 20th most developed nation of the world in 2020 will be achieved. Based on the findings and conclusion, the study recommends, amongst others, that private organisations in Nigeria should commit part of their profits to the development of the country.
