Abstract
This study analyzes media framing in The New York Times and The Washington Post about violence in Jos, Nigeria, over the period 2000-2012. Using media framing analysis and content analysis, with an emphasis on culturally-embedded frames, the study suggests that certain frames, including a North-South frame and a Terrorism frame, may resonate with newspapers readers in the United States. The study includes a brief comparison of media framing in four Nigerian newspapers.
