Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, Ph.D., is a Professor of Media and Cultural Communication, Department of Information and Media Studies, Faculty of Communication, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. He is a scholar, writer, media analyst, and public intellectual whose work spans media studies, popular culture, literature, film, linguistics, and the intellectual history of Northern Nigeria.  Trained in media and communication studies, Professor Adamu’s scholarship moves comfortably across disciplinary boundaries, combining ethnography, textual analysis, historical inquiry, and cultural criticism. His work has paid sustained attention to the circulation of cultural forms across Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and the West, especially the influence of Hindi cinema and global media cultures on Hausa expressive forms. Professor Adamu’s intellectual interests extend beyond academia into music, archival preservation, photography, broadcasting, and digital cultures. Equally at ease discussing classical Islamic manuscripts, Hausa rap lyrics, qualitative research methodology, or German electronic music, he represents a rare generation of African scholars whose work bridges historical depth and contemporary cultural experience.
