The technology used in processing pictures has advanced in this digital age. Thus, the dark room with its attendant delays and flaws has been abandoned in some countries with the introduction of efficient digital systems. This study examines the advantages of digital photography as well as the problems which photojournalists face in adoption of this innovation. Furthermore, the study examines the uses and problems which emanate from manipulation of pictures which is ever so possible in this digital age. Using a survey of selected photojournalists from one television station, newspaper and magazine in Makurdi, Nigeria, the study finds that management of these mass media hold the “magic wand” needed to facilitate the adoption of digital photography, via provision of equipment and training. Government too is involved in the bigger picture by offering tax rebates on the importation of equipment for digital photography.
